This story was the winning entry in the 2001 competition. I'm sure you can see why. Above you can see the picture Niceman created to accompany it.

The year 2241 saw the dawn of the Quantum Singularity Drive, which, by means incomprehensible to laymen, converted an entire spacecraft's mass into a stable mass consisting solely of identical quantum particles, enabling an instantaneous jump from point A to point B. While the inventor never saw its success (due to a minor miscalculation on the last laboratory test - he transported himself to the immediate vicinity of the sun) escalate with every charted star system, his heirs made a fortune on the royalties. By 2246 a grand total of 748 star systems had been accurately mapped, and some of which even had planets capable of supporting life. In 2247, the first planetary exploration was initiated, near a small, earthlike planet somewhere in the Virgo constellation. The expedition was a success... and a disaster. The planet proved to be inhabited, and, while the expedition managed to send scientifically valuable information home, nobody survived. In 2250, the Kirk Probe was launched down at every planet deemed able to sustain life, and a twenty-year quarantine was enforced in all relevant stellar systems. Aside from the Monitor ships, nobody was allowed within one AU from the planets in question. In 2270, the first colony was founded on the planet Virgo Prime, after all scans had come up completely clear as far as life forms were concerned - both technological and telepathic scans.

June 28th, 2281. The Munemasa Colony was beginning to prosper, and the surroundings were lush and peaceful. So far, the jungle outside the colony was still partly uncharted, but adventurous colonists kept going out and return with more detailed maps. Most who went out, though, were somewhat puzzled over the variety of plant life combined with the total absence of animals, or even insects. But that was really of little consequence; on the next cargo ship would be a variety of wild animals to populate the planet's wilderness, for the purpose of establishing a functional ecosystem similar to that of Earth. Nobody ever questioned the absent fauna on colonized planets; everyone knew that there were severe penalties for unauthorized xenobiological inquiries. On the outskirts of the colony, the Watanabe family was trying to run a small grocery store, having made a good arrangement with the colony Mayor, as well as some of the farmers. Their daughter Mayumi, however, hated the whole colony, and was less interested in helping with the family business than she was in getting a nice tan. So, despite her parents' warnings, she took frequent trips outside the colony's perimeter to lie down on a serene, hidden spot and sunbathe.

Meanwhile, only a few miles from the colony, something stirred... a large insect veered through the jungle, and finally slumped to the ground, bulging in a sickening manner. After a few seconds, its carapace split along the back, and a large moth like creature began crawling free, quickly devouring the remnants of its host...

The picture which inspied this story

Mayumi smiled as she gazed upon her hideaway; by the looks of it, it was an old meteor crater, long since overgrown and teeming with healthy plants, and with a huge area in the middle where there never was any shade. She slowly started stripping when she heard a rustle in the bushes. At first, dismissing it as the wind, she removed her top and skirt, discarding them on the ground. But the rustle grew stronger; she turned toward the sound. "Anyone there? Back off, pervert. This is MY spot."

She picked up a small rock and chucked it dead center into the bush, hearing it hit with a soft thump. Grinning, she turned away and started unclasping her bra. As she bent down and pulled down her panties, the bush exploded, and a gigantic moth propelled itself toward her at a terrifying speed. Barely having time to let out a scream as the insect knocked her over, she realized there was a huge proboscis stretching from the moth's body. "Oh my God... don't tell me that thing is..." She didn't have the time to finish the sentence as the Lust Moth bit her back, pumping a small dose of venom into her bloodstream. The effect was instantaneous; Mayumi felt blood rushing to her loins, juices beginning to flow freely... and in her ovaries, an egg cell ripened and began its descent toward her womb. "Oh, God... I need... I must..." Mayumi's gaze kept going to the lust moth's ovipositor, and she slowly rolled over to hands and feet, getting ready to stand up and approach the insect. She never got that far. The Lust Moth pounced, and grabbed on to the small of her back with all six legs, probing around her pussy for the virgin entrance to her womb, seeking the best place to deposit its genetic material... the resistance of Mayumi's virginity was laughable. The Lust Moth's ovipositor slid in smoothly, sucking up Mayumi's pussy juice, swelling like a sponge... Mayumi gasped, reveling in the new sensations... she'd had a finger in there, but she had never been so filled... the Lust Moth started pumping in and out, still swelling inside her pussy, pushing against her cervix, forcing her legs further apart. Mayumi sensed more than really felt that something was about to happen... she climaxed. Her screams rang through the crater, echoing around her, as she saw starbursts, and passed out, feeling the insect's appendage exploding inside her, ejaculating directly into her womb, and sealing the opening with a small glob of gooey tissue afterwards... the Lust Moth flew away, instinctively knowing that the venom had served its purpose... the female would remember nothing of this.

Four hours later, Mayumi awoke with a pounding headache, and a sore back. "Aw, shit. I must have fallen asleep, and now I've got a sunburn, too! Damn!" Gingerly putting her clothes on, she made her way home, careful not to let her top touch her back too much.

When she got home, her father met her in the door. "Mayumi? Where have you... oh, you've been outside again, haven't you?" She glared. "Yeah, so what? There's nothing living out there, anyway." Her father sighed. "True, true... nonetheless, the store isn't going too well... your mother and I have decided to sell, at a loss, and get out while we still can afford it. When the next cargo ship leaves, we're leaving with it." Mayumi could hardly believe her own ears. "Really? Great, dad! Thanks!" As she hugged her father, she tensed up. "Dad... let go... I've got a sunburn..."

July 1st. The cargo ship had successfully provided the animals they were supposed to - or rather, the treated genetic samples, and the artificial growth tubes. In less than a month, the colony would have a healthy adult population of pigs, sheep, cattle and even deer. Mayumi picked up her bag of clothes and toiletries, entering the cargo bay doors of the little docking module, watching as her family's entire life was shipped on board in a huge crate. One of the crewmembers approached her. "Mayumi Watanabe? You and your parents were initially assigned a triple cabin; however, the Nomine V doesn't have any triple cabins in the passenger sections. You've been reassigned a double and a single cabin, in immediate vicinity of each other. How you decide to split them is entirely up to you." The crewman sidled back into the ship, nose buried in the datapad.

Three hours later, Mayumi stretched lazily on her bed, as the Nomine V started its three-day journey toward Earth. Her mother knocked on the door. "Mayumi? I was asked to tell you that dinner is in four hours, but if you're hungry, there's a food replication outlet next to the vidscreen." Mayumi grinned. "Thanks, mom. See you in four hours." After a little while, the door slid open, and a young, pale woman entered, rolling a small cart. "Oh, I'm sorry, miss! I thought the room would be empty..." Mayumi smiled. "It's not... you're here to clean the place?" The woman blushed. "I was delayed; I should have changed this bed two hours ago. I hope you don't mind..." Mayumi grinned and stepped back. "Go ahead." As the maid bent over the bed, Mayumi felt something stir within... something slowly started sliding down her vagina.... something round, thick and flexible... at the same time, two thin stingers were drilling their way out through Mayumi's breasts, poking faintly out through her nipples... Mayumi had no idea what was happening, the alien venom in her blood rendering her unconscious and under the total control of the alien parasite. She bent over the maid as she was reaching for the far side of the bed, hugging her, hands lightly squeezing her breasts... the maid barely had the time to gasp in surprise before the stingers shot through Mayumi's nipples and pumped a dose of venom straight into her back. After a few seconds, the maid started turning around, her hands reaching back around Mayumi, slowly peeling off her clothes. The stingers had already receded, now just coiled up inside Mayumi's breasts, holding them firmly in place as the maid started sucking on an engorged nipple. A thick, phallic proboscis pushed its way out of Mayumi's pussy, its head beginning to rub against the maid's mound. She gasped, standing upright quickly. Mayumi pushed her down to the bed and mounted her in one swift move, the rapidly thickening phallus hitting home on the first attempt, swelling slightly with every drop of pussy juice it drew in. After a few seconds, Mayumi and the maid did nothing more than hold onto each other, while the proboscis holding them together slid in and out of their pussies in long, fluid strokes, picking up speed. It only took a few minutes before the two of them came in unison, but the alien organ wasn't done yet... over the next two hours, they had at least half a dozen orgasms each, before a thick, goopy load of cum was forced deep up into the maid's uterus, sealing the cervix afterwards with a small layer of tissue. After a few minutes, the organ pulled itself back up into Mayumi's womb, leaving the maid's cunt with a soft pop. Mayumi quickly dressed herself and the maid, stepping up to the replicator and punching in the code for a glass of soda. The maid got to her feet, as well, and efficiently made the bed, seemingly in a sort of trance. After the maid left, Mayumi glanced up at the clock, raising an eyebrow. "Only one and a half hour left until dinner? Man, I must have fallen asleep, or something..."

July 3rd. Mayumi got to her feet, then stumbled toward the bathroom. Tripping halfway there, she passed out, her entire body starting to bulge. After a few minutes, something emerged from her stomach, halfway humanoid, halfway insectoid in its appearance, quickly eating what was left of Mayumi's body. It looked around, unsure of its surroundings... then it sensed a rush of air coming from a ventilation duct and dove for it. Shredding the cover with strong claws, it dove into the air supply system, beginning to learn its way around the ship...

July 5th. By now, all the women aboard the ship were impregnated, while the men had no idea. All searches for Mayumi Watanabe had come up blank. The general consensus had been that she had taken a stroll around the ship and accidentally fallen into the antimatter containment chamber - an immense energy field designed to allow ordinary matter in, but nothing out. Such an accident would not be detected on any scans, as the mass of a human was ordinarily insignificant in comparison to the regular amounts of matter being dumped into the chamber every day. (Convenient for powering the engines and getting rid of garbage, all in one handy solution.)

July 12th. The creature that had grown inside Mayumi watched gleefully as all its children set on the few remaining male crewmembers, devouring them in a feeding frenzy. As the last of the humans was destroyed, there was a loud screech from the cockpit area. Several of the insectoid creatures scurried to the front of the cargo ship, staring at a bluish circle up ahead, with a grayish circle next to it. Some incomprehensible garbles came from the seat. The original creature reached out and shredded the control panels, trying to get rid of the screeching sound.

Meanwhile, on the TMV Ulysses, the helmsman kept hailing the Nomine V, to no avail. No response. "Captain! They're not responding to our signal!" Captain Drescher glared at the helmsman. "Well, put'er on visual, then! And make it quick, they're three minutes from getting roasted by Earth's atmosphere." The helmsman shuddered and flicked a switch, the cockpit of the Nomine V, with its new crew of insectoid monstrosities came into view. "This is Captain Drescher of the... HOLY HELL!" One of the creatures dug into the control panel before it, and the transmission fazed out. "Um... captain?" "Yes, ensign?" "What the heck did we just see?" "The Nomine V has been taken over by aliens, it seems. And... SHIT! It's headed for earth! Open fire with all we got!" The helmsman turned. "Everything, captain?" "Uh, no... we're too close... all plasma batteries, open fire, NOW!"

Streaks of purple shone across the night sky, for the few who were lucky enough to watch at that moment, before the Nomine V took a direct hit to the thrusters, exploding into a billion tiny fragments, most of them hurtling into the atmosphere and catching fire from the air friction.

July 28th. Professor Druckner was getting ready for another tour of his facilities, where they kept getting in new, promising genetic engineers every month, when somebody knocked on his door. "Professor Druckner? There may be a small problem." The professor rushed for the door, recognizing the voice. "General Hague! Shh, get inside, quick! What's up?" The old career officer looked worried. "Remember our little probe? You know, the one we developed thirty-three years ago?" Druckner nodded. "Yes, why?" The general handed over a small folder labeled "Nomine V Incident, 12/07/2281". "It just bit us on the butt." Druckner frowned. "Impossible! They were genetically designed to have a very limited lifespan, to ensure their extinction once there were no hosts left!" "Nonetheless, it's the only possible explanation. The Nomine V came in from the Munemasa Colony two days ago. As you can see from the snapshots there, something had taken over the ship on the way back, and only luck allowed a military vessel to destroy it before it could enter our atmosphere." Drucker leafed through the folder, sweating as he saw the screenshots. "There are a few species on earth... that can sleep for years, as though they were dead... that must be what happened..." Leafing to the back of the report, he raised a brow. "Several fragments reached earth's atmosphere before burning up on re-entry? You realize what this means, Hague?" Hague nodded. "You told me yourself - the spores were created immune to temperature, be it extremely hot or cold, so they would live out their short lifespan in vain or infect hosts, rather than lay latent until human settlers arrived..." "Exactly... so, I can only deduce that by now, the Munemasa Colony is overrun with these creatures, with the men infested through the drinking water and food, and the women most likely either impregnated or otherwise infested... We are, in short, doomed..." Hague nodded and headed for the door, looking grim. "You know, Drucker, I'm reminded of a quote used about the nuke... Oppenheimer may have become death, but compared to the two of us, he was an amateur..." Hague shrugged and slipped out the door, spotting a large, werewolf-like creature mercilessly raping a woman, who seemed to be paralyzed somehow... By noon, she would be impregnated with a Kirk drone, which would grow inside her, devouring her to make room for itself, and then, soon, another Kirk would hatch, spreading its spores through wind and water, until all non-plant species were extinct... then, the Kirks themselves would dissipate over a few years, dying rapidly of old age, when there were no more hosts for them to procreate within... God made Man... Man killed God... Man created Xenomorph to make more room for Man... Xenomorph killed man, then died of natural causes... Hague sighed and pulled up his .22, shooting himself on Druckner's doorstep. The shot was drowned out by a louder one from inside the apartment...
